Did you know that a blue whale lives in every single ocean in the world? Well they do. They can swim in every ocean because they are cetaceans. To locate where blue whales currently are scientists search for fluke prints on the surface of the water. Although blue whales live everywhere, they still migrate. Blue whales travel between Alaska and Costa Rica. Other whales swim in pods, but blue whales travel alone, or in groups of two. Blue whales are most populated in the Pacific Ocean. They are also seen near the Costa Rica Dome. Since they are always swimming they have to gulp in lots of water, so their throat expands to hold all the water. That must be a lot of traveling! When they travel, in winter, a blue whale is willing to have less freedom in the water just to get a lot of krill. That is a lot of traveling for a whale to do!
